Rotary 5960 Annual District Conference

On April 14-16, 2011 at the Prom Center in Oakdale, MN, District 5960 will hold its annual conference.  The theme of the conference is “A River Runs To It!”

  • District Governor, Craig Leiser – 2010-2011, has determined the theme for his year as Governor will revolve around water and water projects.  Did you know that 21 out of the 65 clubs in District 5960 have “water” in some form in their name?  Can you list them all?
  • The watershed of every club in the district ultimately drains into the Mississippi River – then gets to New Orleans.  Do you know your watershed?
  • How many lakes, streams, creeks, rivers in our District?

  • District Assembly for 2011 – 12 officers and Annual Business Meeting

Friday Evening

  • Keynote Speaker: Don Shelby, retired WCCO/CBS News Anchor
  • Entertainment: Kenny Salwey, “The River Rat” author and Public Radio Personality

Saturday Morning

  • Elena Hendrick – Kairos in Nicaragua “Fast for Hope” Session

Saturday Noon

  • Foreign Exchange Students parade of flags & talent show.

Friendship and Community Fountain

  • Each Club should bring a gallon of their own water to add to the reservoir.

  • St. Croix Wild and Scenic River
  • The Mississippi River Recreational Park
  • Minnesota River Wildlife Management

Tables will be provided for for clubs to bring examples, pictures, slide shows or other items to offer as examples of their water resource projects this past year.
